Short answer: Sandustry is on PC Game Pass — since day one. It joined Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on August 13, 2026, in the August wave announced on Xbox Wire, listed as a Game Preview title (Microsoft's label for Early Access games).
One thing to know before you install from Game Pass: it is PC only. There is no Xbox console version, and the developer has made no announcement about one. If your Game Pass life happens on a console, this one is not playable there.
Every way to play
| Platform | Status |
|---|---|
| Steam | Early Access, with a free demo |
| PC Game Pass / Ultimate | Included since day one, Game Preview |
| GOG | Available at EA launch |
| Microsoft Store | Available at EA launch |
| itch.io | Free browser demo only |
| Xbox consoles | Not available, nothing announced |
| iOS / Android | No official version, nothing announced |
Searches for "sandustry apk" or "sandustry ios" lead only to unofficial repackages of the free demo — some carrying adware. There is no mobile build; on a phone, the closest legitimate option is streaming your own PC.
A note on the name: Sandustry is not Mindustry. The similarly named Mindustry is a different (and much older) factory-defense game by a different developer, and it does have a mobile version — which is where some of the confusion comes from. See similar games for how the two actually compare.
System requirements
From the Steam store pages (the demo page names exact CPU models; the full game lists classes):
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | Quad-core (demo page: i5-4670K / FX-8100) | Hexa-core (demo page: i5-9600K / Ryzen 5 1600) |
| RAM | 4 GB | 8 GB |
| GPU | GTX 550 Ti class | GTX 960 / RX 570 class |
| Storage | 1 GB (SSD recommended) | 1 GB (SSD recommended) |
Windows, macOS and Linux are all supported natively — the Linux build is confirmed working by Linux gaming press, not just a Proton checkbox. The simulation is CPU-bound the way all falling-sand engines are: past mid-game factory sizes, cores and memory bandwidth matter more than the GPU.
